McDonald’s Is Giving Away Books in Happy Meals

Would you like some Paddington with those fries?
Between now and February 15, US McDonald’s will be giving away books in their Happy Meals!
The fast food chain has partnered with Reading Is Fundamental to switch out the meal’s typical toys for one of five miniature-size paperback books. Sticking to a Valentine’s Day theme, the books include Clark the Shark Takes Heart, Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse!, Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool, as well as Michael Bond’s beloved A Bear Called Paddington.

The combination of books and burgers is not a novel one. The fast food giant began distributing books in 2013, including a special giveaway in the UK last fall, when 14 million Roald Dahl books were included in Happy Meals.
According to McDonald’s, by the end of this year, it will have distributed more than 50 million books to children in the US — enough to provide a book to every child under the age of 12.
